Description
Clare was encouraged by her dear friend, St. Francis of Assisi, toward a religious life of poverty and piety. In the year 1244, Emperor Frederick II attacked Clare's convent walls. Clare held the Eucharist high and prayed. The soldiers miraculously fled! God allowed Clare, during a long illness, to see daily Mass “projected” on her wall so she could still participate. Today, the Poor Clares still follow their founder's example of faith, simplicity and joy.
