Description
As Jesus carried the heavy cross on the way to his crucifixion, one woman in particular took great pity on him. In a brief moment of relief for Jesus, the woman gently wiped blood and sweat from his face. It is said that a miraculous image of Jesus was left on the cloth she used. Centuries of Christian tradition honor this woman as Saint Veronica – a name meaning “true image”.
