Description

When Kateri was just a child, smallpox left her with poor vision and a scarred face. However, Kateri found peace in Jesus, especially in the Eucharist. Persecuted by her Mohawk tribe, Kateri traveled the wilderness by foot and canoe to live in a Christian community. She lived there happily until 1680, when she died from illness at the age of 24. Kateri is often called “the Lily of the Mohawks.”
